Waitressing at Hursey's BBQ

The members of BJWC will wait on you "hand & hoof" at Hursey's BBQ!  Last Fall, Hursey's was kind enough to hand over their aprons to us on a Monday night!  All of the tips we made went to benefit Relay for Life.  With the money we made from Hursey's and the money we raised with our Relay for Life team, BJWC was honored to be named a Bronze Award Winner for our donation to the American Cancer Society.  We will be accepting the award in October when they kick off their '07 Relay event!

This year, we are once again slingin' the slaw at Hursey's (yes, they let us come back!), but this time, our tips will go towards our budget for Project Shoes .  BJWC is the only agency in Alamance County supplying our school-aged children with shoes based only upon the recommendations of school social workers and school counselors.  We generally buy about 100 pairs of shoes each school year, however, this year we have already purchased 52 pairs of shoes and it's only October, so stop by and see us on October 9 from 4-9pm.  Thank you Hursey's!!

Nut Sale
Our annual Nut Sale begins in September as we pre-sell Uncle Al’s nuts to the Burlington and Alamance community. The nuts are delivered in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. This year our nut sale has purchased around 75 pairs of shoes which is our signature project “Project Shoes”.

Car Wash
The Project Shoes committee will sometimes host a separate fundraiser for their project depending on the needs of the community. In the past this fundraiser has been in the form of a car wash or selling car wash tickets for AutoBell – a local car wash company.
