Project Shoes – is a signature project that was adopted by the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, as well as BJWC in 1993. We provide shoes and socks to needy children in the local school system and community. The recipients of the shoes are selected based upon recommendations from the social workers (and other school staff). Fundraising for this project includes proceeds from an annual nut sale as well as letter-writing campaigns to local hosiery mills and shoe manufacturers to become co-sponsors.
Please allow us 5-7 days to purchase the shoes. Once the shoes have been purchased, arrangements for pick up that have been specified on the request form will be followed. It will be up to your agency staff to deliver the shoes to the child or the child's family. For the confidentiality of those involved, we do not deal directly with the families themselves.
We want to be certain that the recommendations made are for those children truly in need of our help. We will not require proof of the family's income or need. We will act solely upon your good judgment. |
